Dear Parents,

We began Unit 4 on Geometry today with studnets. We should be able to complete this unit prior to March Break.

Throughout  the Unit we will be asking students to sit with their parents/guardians and go over concepts being taught that day. These will be small rehearsal. In doing so this will enable parents to be informed about class activities and provide parents with an opportunity to interact with their child.

This rehearsal should be initialed by parentas in student’s scribblers.

For tonight students are asked to show and explain the 5 types of angles discussed.

Right, Straight, Acute, Obtuse and Reflex. They should be able to show/draw these and explain why they are called by certain names.

Dear Parents,

We are currently working on Decimals in the area of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We are working on word problems and using estimating skills to assist with answering questions.

We would like for you to encourage your child to  review concepts being discussed in class each evening. A simple review of these concepts for 10-15 minutes would go along way to assist them to remember these concepts.

We will be carrying on with Decimals in the new year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Grade 6 Team at ERES!

Grade 6 Math Make Sense Program

Filed under: Uncategorized on Sunday, November 7th, 2010 by | Comments Off

Dear Parents,

In the near future we will be switching over to the new Math Make Sense program with Grade 6 students.

This program is currently being piloted in grade six across the province. However, no one is piloting it at ERES but we do have access to the program in “pdf” format. Our Grade 6 French Immersion students are currently using this program.

All classes in Grade six are equipped with LCD Projectors that will be used to bring this program to students.

To elevate book issues we have posted the program both book and workbook on this blog. We will provided current updates throughout the weeks on what topics are going to be covered and any work that should be done at home. To do this, students will have to access this blog and open up the chapter or workbook page.

Those students who are unable to access this blog, they will  be provided with the necessary pages to take home.

Any questions feel free to contact us.
